Audi Q7 Gets a sporty V12

After making its debut on the Q7 V12 TDI and R8 V12 TDI concepts at the Detroit Auto Show in september 2007, the most powerful diesel engine from Audi will finally be introduced on the production Q7, at the Geneva Auto Show .

Although most people were expecting the famous race bred engine to make its ' first steps' on the exotic R8 sports car, the German manufacturer chose to offer it to the SUV customers instead. The result is what Audi labels as ' the most powerful diesel-powered passenger vehicle in its class'. Hopefully, it won't become ' the worst handling passenger vehicle in its class', because of the extra weight and power.

And when we say extra power, we take into consideration the 6 liter V12 which develops 500 Hp and 1000 Nm of torque. Linked to a 6 Speed Multitronic Gearbox , it helps the massive Q7 to hit 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h. Thanks to advanced common rail technology , the big SUV only needs an average of 11,9 liters for 100 km. In order to save weight and reduce fuel consumption, Audi used aluminum for the chassis and most axle components.

Because a car with such a powerful 'heart' needs a proper suit, the Q7 V12 TDI comes with lots of standard features including sport seats, leather package, carbon fiber and aluminum trims, DVD navigation system , alarm and tire pressure monitoring system. Also as standard comes the carbon-fiber ceramic brake system with eight-piston calipers for the front and four pistons for the back axle, 20 inch alloy wheels and adaptive suspension

Customers will be able to post orders for the new model in the second half of this year, although Audi has not announced any prices yet.
