Car accidents happen every day. They are an unfortunate problem caused by the fact that humans are imperfect, and the machines and systems designed by them fail from time to time.
Once in a while, a thing called a “freak accident” happens. That is when something unusual takes place, and it's often surrounded by mystery. Thanks to dash cams and decent resolution video footage, this is no longer an issue these days.
The accident we are writing about today involves a young woman and an Audi Q5. On March 14, 2016, the 23-year-old driver drove off a fourth-floor garage in Towson (Baltimore).
However, she did not drive off to the third or fifth floor, but straight towards the pavement, many feet below.
Thankfully, no pedestrians were on the sidewalk where she landed her Audi, and she was not seriously injured following the accident.
The consequences of this incident could have been severe if people had been below, or if Ms. Lindsay T.C. was not driving a car as safe as her SUV.
According to the Baltimore County Police, the driver crashed into the concrete barrier before falling four floors and landing wheels up on the sidewalk. The cause of the accident was not specified, nor was the penalty that the 23-year-old driver will face for this event.
After all, even with no injured people, there is considerable property damage and a possible act of reckless driving. If this is not a case of irresponsible driving, we are curious to know the reason this accident happened. Smashing a concrete barrier does not happen that easily (if it does, a contractor has some explaining to do), especially at appropriate speeds for driving in a parking lot.
An SUV such as the one that was being driven by the 23-year-old unlucky star of the video below could theoretically blow through a concrete barrier if it had a significant velocity, but things like those usually happen in action movies and video games, but never in real life.
We will keep you updated on this if the Baltimore County Police delivers extra info regarding the causes of this accident (except human error, the most likely cause).
