Audi makes a lot of money selling the Q5 to US customers, so the Q3 could create a bit of a problem if it takes away from its big brother’s sales. Just when we thought that the little crossover would never make the trip across the pond, new information coming from the Ingolstadt top brass suggest it’s still on the table.
According to Auto Week, the arrival could potentially happen after a mid-life facelift in three years time.
"We have to look at the economic feasibility, and it has to hit targets. We have to overcome certain challenges," said Johan de Nysschen, president of Audi of America, at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show.
The biggest hurdle right now is the price, which needs to be lowered as much as possible.
"I think the U.S. is ready for a car below the Q5," explains Peter Schwarzenbauer, Audi AG board member for sales and marketing.
