Audi is set to expand its crossover range in the coming years, with the first step being the release a new vehicle that will be slotted under the Q3 in 2015.
The German carmaker has been considering developing a new small crossover since 2009, when the vehicle had settled for the Q1 designation. Ever since, the model moved on to the Q2 designation and we received the Crosslane Concept at last year’s Paris Motor Show as a preview.

The Crosslane also offered an insight into Audi’s future, as it uses a structure that mixes aluminum with carbon and carbon fiber reinforced fiberglass. However, it’s too early to tell if the Q2 will make use of such a structure.

The Q2 is expected to have a wheelbase of 2.5 meters (inches), which will place in in between the A1 and A3 and will see the vehicle competing against models like the MINI Countryman.

The Q2 is expected to arrive in both two- and four-door versions and offer 2WD or AWD, while power will come from downsized turbocharged petrol and diesel engines with outputs of up to 200 hp. The vehicle could also be gifted with a hybrid powertrain.

Like we said, the Q2 is expected to arrive in 2015 and one year later Audi is expected to give us the Q6, which will use the platform of the next-generation Q5.
