Word has it German automaker Audi will launch a brand new Q1 model in 2016. This piece of information comes via Auto Bild, who claims Audi’s brand new vehicle will be based on the Volkswagen Polo.
The German source adds the Audi Q1 will be 3.8 meters long and will have off-road-like ground clearance and styling, but won’t be offered with all-wheel drive. As far as engines are concerned, the Q1 could sport 1.4-liter TFSI and TDI
units with 90 HP
, while an SQ1 should deliver as much as 231 HP.
What’s more, the Q1 could also be sold with a hybrid version, with powered to be provided by a 1.2-liter petrol engine mated to an electric motor rated at 109 HP. The Audi Q1 is said to become available for less than €20,000 in Germany.
Rumors that Audi is working on a Q1 model surfaced back in January 2012, but the Ingolstadt-headquartered manufacturer has yet to make any official statements.
