A testimony of the success the A4 model from Audi experienced over the years is the announcement made on Wednesday by the German auto maker, who says it has rolled off the assembly lines in Ingolstadt the five-millionth Audi A4.
The model that will ever be known as that is an A4 2.0 TFSI quattro, painted in Misano Red. Its arrival comes some good years since the launch of the A4 line (the range was introduced by Audi in 1994). Currently, the A4 is the line that occupies most of the time and equipment of the German auto maker at the Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm plants.
“The success of the entire A4 model family keeps our two main production plants fully occupied and safeguards the workforce’s jobs,” said Peter Mosch, General Works Council chairman. “Audi owes this success to its employees, who have invested so much know-how, quality awareness and dedicated work in the A4.”
In an attempt to keep the pace with the current trends in the industry, Audi announced a revision of the engines offered on the model in November last year. Starting this year, the A4 is more frugal when it comes to the fuel it needs to run, while at the same time maintaining the power levels customers have grown accustomed to.
“The A4 success story at this production plant is impressive evidence of the performance that the Ingolstadt team is capable of. As the assembly lines become more and more complex, the task can only be handled with lean processes and the motivation of a high-performance team – just like we have at Audi,” added Peter Kossler, Ingolstadt plant manager.
