How else could you celebrate the 100th anniversary of the company if not by launching a brand new model that could bring the automaker in the spotlights? Audi today announced that it will celebrate the 100th birthday of the company on July 16 in Ingolstadt, with German Chancellor Angela Merkel as the special guest.
Quite boring as you can see but, in order to make the event a bit spicier, the four ring brand also announced that the show will witness the world premiere of a new model. Unfortunately, the company hasn't unveiled details regarding the model, so all we can to for the time being is to speculate and wait for at least a hint of what to expect in mid-July.
Recent media reports and rumors make us believe that the RS 5 and R8 are expected to be unveiled in the next few months, with the July 16 event likely to host the new launches. However, since Audi said we're talking about a "world premiere", the all-new A7 has the most chances to hit the market at the Ingolstadt ceremony.
And speaking of Audi A7, there are only a few details available at this time, but a bunch of rumors claimed the car is likely to be powered by a 3.0-liter powerplant generating 300 horsepower. A 4.2-liter unit might join the range too, with maximum output reaching 400 hp.
“We are proud of the tradition of the Audi brand and our company’s history of success. You have to be aware of your roots if you want to shape the future with new ideas and innovations,” says Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Audi AG Board of Management.
