Audi Prepares for DTM’s First Round in Valencia

The German automaker prepares for next week’s race in Valencia where three important events will take place. Next weekend's Valencia round will see the DTM's debut race on location, while Timo Scheider will start his 100 race in the series. Last but not least, Miguel Molina will step in front of his crowd wearing the Audi team suit.

During the official pre-season tests in Valencia, the 21-year-old Spaniard posted the second-best lap time and managed to clinch his first DTM point afterwards at Hockenheim. With the team already calling him “Magic“ Molina, Audi is pleased to see the interest in DTM soared in Spain after they signed the young Spaniard. Spanish TV channel Onda6 will be airing for the first time live broadcasts of all DTM races this season, Audi announced in a press release.

“A home round is always something special for a racer,” says the Catalonian, who calls Lloret de Mar, a town about 400 kilometers north of Valencia, home. “I’m hoping to be able to help make the DTM similarly popular in Spain as it is in Germany. I was amazed to see the level of enthusiasm for the DTM there. It was a completely new feeling for me to be driving in front of such a big crowd at Hockenheim and to write such a large number of autographs.”

Meanwhile, reigning DTM Champion Timo Scheider will compete in his 100th DTM race of his career. The debut round for the series in Valencia will certainly be remembered by the German racing driver as he looks for a memorable performance.

“Obviously, this is a special number,” says Scheider, who is the only driver in the field to have raced in the DTM when the series was re-launched in 2000. “It was always my dream to compete for Audi,” says Scheider, whose private garage recently became home to a white Audi R8 Spyder. “This is another dream I’ve been able to fulfill ...”
