Launching new models during recession times could prove to be the worst idea ever, so in order to make their presence felt in the automotive world, some companies opt for special packages which more or less change the appearance or the performance of a specific model. Although black seems to prepare the A3 for depression/recession times, it makes the Audi model look incredibly good for as much as 905 pounds.
At least, that's how much the Audi A3 Black Edition package costs, according to a statement published by the German manufacturer, who released the special edition variant only in the United Kingdom. The Black Edition is available for all three A3 versions: the 3-door hatchback, the 5-door Sportback and the Cabriolet. All versions come by default in Brilliant Black paint but a number of metallic colors, including Phantom Black, Misano Red and Monza Silver, are available as extra-cost options.
Beside the obvious black exterior color, the A3 Black Edition comes with de-chromed front grille, black surrounds for the roll bars, 18-inch S line design alloy wheels and privacy glass extends from the B-pillars (hatchbacks only). Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps are available as standard on all models.
The interior also comes with a number of goodies, as expected focused on black, including high gloss Piano black inlays, acoustic rear parking sensors, partially leather-upholstered sports seats, electronic climate control and black speaker boxes.
According to an Audi, the new limited A3 range will reach United Kingdom authorized dealerships in February, with prices from £22,215 OTR to £27,395 OTR.
Unfortunately, there is only a single picture available at this time, but keep your eyes skinned on autoevolution and we promise to bring you new details as soon as they're provided.
