German carmaker Audi announced today it will start a competition aimed at developing new ideas for production of electric vehicles. Called “The Production of Electric Automobiles,” the competition will kick off this fall, with students and scientists already submitting their ideas.
“Audi lives for ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ in more than just its automobiles. We are also committed to innovative technologies in production, and electric mobility will play a particularly important role here in the years ahead,” Frank Dreves, Audi member of the board for production said in a statement. “We want to involve as many creative minds as possible to keep our production fit in the future, which is why we have created the Audi Production Award.”
Entries for the competition can be submitted at www.audi.de/production-award until July 31. Any entry must present a concept portfolio explaining the current situation, the proposed solution and a path to that solution, whatever they may be.
Audi will select eight entries and invite their creators at Ingolstadt for a two-day workshop. After this stage, those taking part will have two weeks to revise their concepts, with the winner to be announced in early November.
"We are convinced that we will receive many innovative and creative entries because the competition is a unique opportunity for young employees and potential employees. It is important that the concept can be easily implemented and demonstrates clear progress over the state of the art,” Bernd Griesbach, spokesperson for the Predevelopment and Innovation Team in Production added.
