Audi "Intelligent Emotion" Renderings

It becomes more and more obvious that looking for future design geniuses among people outside of the automotive industry might be the way to go, especially for manufacturers who plan on bringing new, fresh ideas into their future vehicles.

It was only yesterday that we witnessed the Peugeot RD concept, the winning project of the French manufacturer's "Imagine the Peugeot in the Worldwide Megalopolis of Tomorrow" competition.

The same guide lines were put into practice by German manufacturer Audi, who's "Intelligent Emotion" program has gathered talented students from the Munich University of Applied Sciences and tested their skills into drawing "visionary ideas for the mobility of the future".

"The next generation of employees is our future," Wolfgang Egger, Head of Audi Group Design said in a release. "That’s why sponsoring design students is one of our high priorities. With the Intelligent Emotion project we have obviously inspired them to find new and creative approaches for the future of personal transportation."

The project was headed by Othmar Wickenheiser, professor of Transportation Design at Munich University of Applied Sciences, under the guidance of Wolfgang Egger and Stefan Sielaff, from Audi. The results of the project are 11 concept studies (by Fabian Weinert, Sylvain Wehnert, Niels Steinhoff, Maximilian Kandler and Maximilian Mandl), who all bring new ideas into designing anything from a hybrid super-car to an alternative concept for lightweight interiors.

The results are impressive. The students have addressed the subject of mobility in the future with very well-conceived and lucidly presented approaches. Each concept, each model, contains at least one idea or feature that we could certainly conceive of as being included in a future production vehicle,” added Egger.

The resulting projects have been published in a book called Audi Design Project, published by Heel Verlag, available for 30 euros to all those who would like to take inspiration from the studies.
