Audi Explains Development of Refreshed R8 - No Changes, Just Optimization

Audi is a very strict and sober automaker, and it really shows in the cars that they make. Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘cement salesmen’ reference is very good to describe the kind of people who buy Audis - they are not actual cement salesmen, but they want something simple, imposing, of a high quality feel and as sober and German as possible - each and every single Audi model delivers.
Even their very own supercar, the R8, which has ben refreshed for the 2013 model-year, is as sober as supercars get. However, it is undeniably a successful formula, and Audi admit that they didn’t want to change anything about it, and they just improved its technical side, while also slightly refreshing the car’s styling, to give it the new ‘family face’ look.

If only one word were to be used to describe the 2013 R8, that word would be: better. The new car is just better than the old one in every single way - this will make it even less appealing for the people who didn’t like it in the first place, while making it even more attractive for those who do like and understand it.
