Students and researchers from Germany and Hungary have submitted multiple new concepts and the judges have selected the six teams with the most innovative ideas. These have been invited to take part in a two-day workshop that is taking place this week in Ingolstadt (Audi’s headquarters in Germany).
The workshop discuses the concept of a future electric vehicle. It allows the participants to refine their concepts and receive feedback from Audi experts. Audi is planning to receive fresh ideas from the teams, using an open-source development approach.
The concepts address multiple aspects of automotive production, from electric motor building to efficient utilization of materials. The participants are also able to discuss with top Audi executives during the event.
After the workshops, the teams will have two additional weeks to revise their concepts. Subsequently, the competition’s jury will select the winner and an award ceremony will be held in December.
“We’re having lively discussions and I am extremely pleased with the wealth of ideas from the participants,” says Dr. Bernd Griesbach, spokesperson for the Pre-development and Innovation Team in Production. “But the special aspect of the Audi Production Award is that the competition doesn’t end with the submission of concept portfolios. Each team is supported by a subject mentor from Production who stimulates additional thoughts and answers questions. This enables students to achieve further progress in the substance of their concept.”
