On Wednesday, Audi felt it’s time to give the world a taste of the electric SUV’s performance figures, at least the initial ones. And, as per their claims, zero to 100 km/h acceleration (62 mph) is done in less than six seconds.

That is possible thanks to the two electric motors that have a combined output of 355 hp and develop 561 Nm (413.8 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to the fact that the motors deliver peak output for up to 60 seconds, the e-tron is capable of accelerating repeatedly without any loss of power.

When in Sport mode, the SUV’s motors can deliver even more power: 402 hp and 664 Nm (489.7 lb-ft) of torque.

The e-tron stores its energy in a 95 kWh battery. That, along with the recuperation system - tested on the world famous Pikes Peak – that gives it 30 percent of the total range, the SUV is capable of traveling for a total of 248 miles (400 km) without recharghing.

That’s not exactly exciting, given the fact that the two models the e-tron targets, the Tesla Model X and the Jaguar I-Pace, bring a few extra miles to go, and they are possibly decisive for customers. For the record, the former has a range of 295 miles (474 km), and the latter 298 miles (480 km).

But, hopes Audi, the recuperation system used on the e-tron might make all the difference in the world. At Pikes Peak, the SUV went downhill for 31 kilometers (19 miles), and fed “so much energy back to the battery that it can cover approximately the same distance again.

As per Audi, the e-tron prototype recuperates energy with up to 300 Nm of torque (221.3 lb-ft) and 220 kW of electric power – more than 70 percent of its operating energy input. “No series production model has achieved such a value up to now,” says Audi.

In the document attached below you can find all the additional details for the e-tron released by Audi.
