A group of elderly women took to the streets in Belfast to protest the council’s decision not to collect their garbage, and they ended up being intimidated by a very irate male driver.
Video of the incident was posted online and has gone viral ever since, for the simple reason that here is a genuine macho man, all tattooed and driving a sports car, trying to intimidate a bunch of pensioners. Of all the nasty things you could do, on and off the road, this ranks lowest – right there to stealing the more or less proverbial candy from a child.
According to the Daily Mail, the elderly women had decided to protest the council’s decision to stop collecting their bins by literally taking their bins to the street, blocking traffic. Sure, that could be seen as an inconvenient to the drivers, but they actually took the time to explain to all of them that they could go around the blockage.
They tried the same with this Audi driver, though he showed no signs of wanting to hear them out. He kept yelling at them to “move the f**king bins, will ya,” waving his arms around impatiently. At one point, he seems to want to go back to his car to drive off, but he changes his mind and returns to karate-kick one of the bins. How’s that for a display of masculinity?
One of the pensioners comes and picks the bin up, removing it from the center of the street and thus creating enough room for the angry driver to pass.
He jumps back in his car and speeds off, but not before making a lasting impression on Internet commenters: if he’d only taken a few seconds to stop being such a jackass, he could have certainly gotten the women to move the bins without his utterly unimpressive karate skills.
