Audi officials have just chosen the location for the construction of a new production facility, in Mexico. San Jose Chiapa, in the State of Puebla, will be the site at which the next Audi Q5 will be built. According to Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi, "The production site in San José Chiapa meets various key requirements of our global growth strategy and we can step up our activities in American markets."

One of Audi’s board members for Human Resources, and Labour Director Thomas Sigi stated that "When deciding on a new site, it is important that we can find well-qualified employees there [. . .] Internationally recognized schools for the children of employees sent on assignment to Mexico are also crucial. Quality of life, healthcare provision and the security of our employees are other major factors."

Construction of the new facility will kick off some time in 2013, and will be completed in early 2016, right on time for the start of production of the all-new Q5, of which Audi plans to make some 150,000 per year, to sell world-wide.
