Audi Celebrates Le Mans Win with Employees

After the historic 1-2-3 at Le Mans last weekend, German manufacturer Audi thought to best celebrate the win with the people which made it all possible, its employees from Neckarsulm, Ingolstadt and with the fans at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The first stop for the winning LMP1 and driver Mike Rockenfeller will be on June 21 at Neckarsulm, where the driver will get behind the wheel of an Audi R15 TDI for an honorary tour. Timo Bernhard, Dindo Capello, Romain Dumas, Marcel Fassler, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish will then be giving autographs to their engineer-colleagues.

The same day, the team will move to Ingolstadt, where the Neckarsulm-practiced run and autograph signing will once again be set in motion.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed and the DTM race at the Norisring will also see the R15 TDI on the track, with demo laps from the original Le Mans cars to be held prior to the start of the DTM race. All three drivers which drove Audi to victory will be on location at Norisring to sign autographs.

Last weekend, Mike Rockenfeller, Timo Bernhard and Romain Dumas managed to finish the race ahead of Benoit Treluyer, Marcel Fassler and Andre Lotterer, following a run which saw the highest speed in the history of the endurance classic since its inception in 1923.

"Ever since they crossed the finish line, the phones in Ingolstadt and those of the three Le Mans winners have not stopped ringing," Audi says, trying to justify the big number of events where the victorious cars and teams will be attending in the following months.
