Ingolstadt has a new best seller of the day, and it's not an SUV. The A3 premium compact celebrates an important milestone in its career, as the example number 3.000.000 has just rolled off the line.
17 years of production and three model generations were needed to reach this point. The landmark car is an A3 Sportback equipped with a 2.0-liter TDI engine and quattro all-wheel drive. It was displayed in front of the Audi Forum in Ingolstadt together with a 1996 (middle) and Audi A3 3.2 quattro, model year 2004 (right).

"Three million cars in the compact class is an impressive tight performance," says Dr. Frank Dreves, Board Member for Production at Audi AG. "Behind this is a strong team and an efficient production system. With the Audi A3 we have created a brand new segment - with innovative technology and top quality, we set new standards in the compact class for 17 years. "

"Since the mid-90s, the Audi A3 was the second important pillar of our main plant in Ingolstadt and thus contributes significantly to securing sustainable employment at the site," says Peter Mosch, Chairman of Audi AG. "It is particularly due to the dedication and passion of our workforce that we can write this success story."

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
