Audi Australia and PDM Launch First Holographic Virtual Assistant

The creepy future when people will be replaced by robots seems closer than we have expected. Keeping that in mind, Audi and PDM, Australia’s number one Out-of-Home Digital media company, have recently launched the country’s first ever life-size ‘Holographic Virtual Assistant’ at Audi Centre Sydney, Rosebery.

Customers  will be given information about the products and Audi's offering in an entertaining way while they visit the dealership. More importantly, the virtual assistant is designed to promote targeted messages of the brand.

“The possibilities in the Out-of-Home sector have exploded over the last few years and PDM have consistently embraced new technologies to engage with an increasingly desensitised consumer. We have led the way with innovation in the Australian marketplace and Audi’s Holographic Virtual Assistant is a great example of this,” says PDM Creative and Planning Director, Julie Frikken.

As for the technical details, the Holographic Virtual Assistant comes in the form of a lifesize, virtual installation with the holographic effect created using 3M’s dynamic Vikuiti rear projection film and rear mounted video projector technology.

“The Audi brand prides itself on innovation and quality and being a progressive brand, we are once again leading the way with this cutting-edge installation.  We have been aware of PDM’s track record of innovation in the Australian marketplace for quite some time.  The Virtual assistant is a great way for us to connect with our customers and a great example of Audi’s progressive brand coming to life,” confesses Allan Brinck, Dealer Principal, Audi Centre Sydney.

In addition, the Virtual Assistant has the features of the Vikuiti film and PDM’s expert digital content capabilities.

Well, the Audi's new robot may have all the technological qualities in the world but if the production of such machines will be generalized, jobs like front-desk assistant will be soon history. And to be honest, this is the last thing we needed during the financial downturn when so many companies are laying off their employees.
