Audi has just announced a new ‘line’ for its A6, A6 Avant and A7, called ‘Black Edition’. These special edition cars will get some bespoke styling cues, all of which are ‘black-themed’. First off, all cars will receive special alloys, with a nice titanium finish - 20-inch on the A6, and 21-inch on the A7.
The other noticeable difference between the Black Edition cars and lesser models is the blacked out grille, which is odd, because Audi usually likes to show it off in lots of chrome - we say the black variant looks much better than the regular silver finish. In addition, the number plate surround, the strips around the windows and the roof rails on the A6 Avant are also painted satin black. To finish off the look, the rear windows are tinted.

On the inside, the black theme continues, with the usual piano black trim pieces, and black leather sports seats, which the car inherits from the S-Line models, on which this edition is based. An advanced BOSE sound system, DAB digital radio and iPod connectivity all come as standard.

There is no limit to what engine can be chosen, except the V8 S6, or the base, front-wheel driven A7, with the 3.0-liter TDI engine, with 204 hp, as well as the S7. In the UK, the A6 Black Edition starts off at £35,010, the Avant at £36,970, while the A7 is available from £50,575. First deliveries are expected to begin in the first part of 2013.
