Infiniti needed an experienced leading exec, as their plans have a somewhat aggressive approach. Following the recent opening of their Hong Kong headquarters (also an aggressive move), their plan to sell very large number of cars by 2016 is coming into focus. Also, the Japanese maker plans to start building their own cars (two models) in China by 2014 in an effort to cut shipping and labour costs, while having a constant and reliable supply of cars for the Asian region.

Johan’s new job will require him to report to Andy Palmer, Nissan Executive Vice-President, who said “We have exciting and ambitious plans for improving the Infiniti brand, including introducing new models in all markets where premium customer demand exists [...] Johan is a highly successful global luxury automotive executive, and his leadership of Infiniti will be a key factor in realizing the potential of the Infiniti brand.”

With their determination now backed up by industry experience, and their products striving to ahcieve higher levels of quality, Infiniti has the chance to become a much bigger player on the world luxury car market in the coming years.
