Audi AFLE Is a Self-Driving Home on Wheels, Everything Looks Doable

Self-driving cars are the next big thing in the automotive industry, but what if one brand pushes things one step further and converts these vehicles to small homes on wheels?

This is the idea proposed by a designer called Li Ding and who envisioned a 2035 Audi self-driving vehicle that would serve as an expansion to the living environment.

In other words, this car would serve as your second home, and what’s more, it could drive you to work without you moving a single finger.

Called Audi AFLE, which stands for Autonomous Flexible Living Environment, this concept imagines a greatly redesigned cabin that would allow passengers to work, chat, get dressed, and so many other things that we typically do at home.

For example, the renderings detail a lounge environment for better socializing, extra office space in the back, a bench with enough room for two people, a front office space with a folding table and screen, a lowered floor for easy shoe-change, and under-seat storage with a transparent shoe cover.

AFLE is designed to be a self-driving vehicle that also serves to be the seamless extension of your flexible living space. It represents a new way of future lifestyle for the year of 2035, when your living environment is dramatically expanded, phasing out the importance of location,” the artist says.

While Audi is the brand that the artist believes could make this happen, it goes without saying that others could invest in something similar as well, albeit this won’t be possible until self-driving cars themselves are more common.

The design study as a whole is interesting, to say the least, as it envisions how cars can evolve to become more than just the daily means of transportation, especially given that most of us end up spending several hours a day for the typical commute.
