The upcoming Detroit Auto Show which opens its doors in January 2009 is close to become Audi's own motor show as the German carmaker plans to debut multiple cars at the forthcoming event.
First of all, there's the 525-horsepower R8 sports car which, according to various sources, will be equipped with a 5.2-liter engine producing a maximum torque of 390.1 lb-ft. This engine helps the car accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in no less than 3.9 seconds while the top speed has been rated at 196 mph (315.4 km/h), Freep.com wrote.
Secondly, Audi may also roll out a diesel variant of the A4 sport sedan but there are only a few details available at the time of writing this article.
Last but not least, the Audi A7 concept may be the most awaited model in the whole Audi Detroit Auto Show lineup, with the new car likely to be displayed in three engine configurations, as it follows: a 2.8-liter producing 204 horsepower, a 3.0-liter 300 horsepower and a 4.2-liter V7 400 horsepower. Moreover, Audi may also unveil an RS variant equipped with a 5.2-liter V10 unit producing 600 horsepower, WorldCarFans wrote today.
Although it is only pure speculation, the new Audi A7 may also come with a choice of three transmissions, namely a six-speed manual, a dual-clutch seven-speed DSG and a seven-speed automatic.
So far, there's no official information regarding Audi A7 as the German company presented only a bunch of sketches showing a sporty car model focused on aerodynamics but sharing an Audi-like front similar to the ones appearing on Audi A4 and A5. However, we'll surely find out more in January so get back soon to find more details regarding Audi's so-called flagship model.
