Fans of the brand with four rings will have yet another vehicle to dream of, as Audi has released details and photos of the new A5 Sportback, a car which "combines the best of different automotive worlds". The Spotrback will become the third addition to the A5 range and will hit the streets in September. Starting price for the A5 Sportback is 36,050 euro (for the 2.0l TDI version), but Audi promises a new entry model in early 2010.
At first, the A5 Sportback will be available with a choice of two gasoline and three diesel engines. The gasoline versions, namely the 2.0 TFSI quattro, developing 211 hp and 350 Nm and the 3.2l V6 quattro generating 265 hp, are fitted with a valvelift system, which provides more power, higher torque and lower fuel consumption.
The diesel power units to be fitted on the A5 Sportback are as it follows:
All engines feature direct injection, with the diesel versions being common rail TDI units. The gasoline powerplants are all based on the FSI concept. As you might have expected, all engines meet the EU5 exhaust emission standard.
Audi A5 Sportback also features drive select dynamic driving system, which allows the driver to choose between three driving modes. The Sportback can be ordered with adaptive shock absorber control, dynamic steering with continuously variable assistance and quattro with sport differential for the 3.0 TDI and 3.2 FSI versions.
And that's about it for now. Trim levels, a photo gallery, as well as interior details have not yet been released, but it is likely Audi will do so in the following weeks.
