Audi A4 2.0 TDIe Launch in October

A new addition to the A4 range comes to complement to the eco-friendly efforts made by the German manufacturer. Available only for the saloon body style, the 2.0 TDIe joins its existing brothers, the A3 1.9 TDIe and the A6 2.0 TDIe.

The little e at the end of the model's designation tell customers the new A4 achieves an average 61.4mpg (3.8l/100 km) and emits some 120g/km of CO2. Prices for the new version of the A4 start in the UK at £23,340 (27,200 euros) and will be available in the country from this October.

Performance has not been left behind on the expense of fuel saving. The A4 is powered, as the name says, by a 2.0l engine, developing 136 PS at 4,200 rpm and 320 Nm of torque starting from 1,750 rpm. The A4 2.0 TDIe accelerates from naught to sixty in 9.5 seconds and keeps going until it reaches 143 mph (230 km/h).

One of the other main features of the TDIe is the start-stop system, which cuts engine power at idle when the clutch pedal is released and the gear lever is in its neutral position, and then restarts in two-tenths of a second when the clutch is depressed.

The e also stands for a five percent increase in the speed of the manual transmission's final drive ratios. The addition of power steering pump which operates only on demand, as well as streamlining underbody trim panel have also helped achieve the consumption and emission levels.

The A4 2.0 TDIe will be available in Standard and SE trim levels, both fitted with alloy wheels, a CD audio system and electric front and rear windows.
