Premium superminis might not be as important to German car companies as mid-size sedans or SUVs, but Audi has registered great success with its A1 model. Built off the PQ25 that also underpins the VW Polo and Skoda Fabia, the smallest four-ringed model has been produced in over half a million examples since 2010. Now, a mid-life facelift is being introduced with subtle cosmetic upgrades that have a very… familiar vibe.
As far as the looks are concerned, the A1 is a lot like the S1 hot hatch they revealed this summer, especially when equipped with the S line body kit. We love the look of the new Xenon Plus optional headlight system that's much fresher than the old one. However, the "new A1" doesn't look half bad from the back either, where extra sharpness has been added to the bumper together with redefined taillight graphics.

Audi has also added new colors into the range, as well as wheel designs of up to 18-inches in size. Thankfully, even without the S line body kit, the car looks good. Just like in the past, options include many other customization features – from colored air vents to decorative decals for the body.

In line with the latest customer trends, the Germans have changed the list of optional features. Customers can configure their Audi A1 to be even more customizable by choosing one of the new lines: design or sport.

The interior looks pretty much the same with the exception of the lighting. However, Audi has seen fit to change the MMI infotainment and make its connect module available. If you order it, this brings online services for the car and also turns it into a WiFi hotspot for your mobile devices to use. A Bose Surround Sound system is the last piece that rounds out the infotainment lineup.

Pricing information should be out within the next few days. If you'd like to learn more about the A1 facelift, check out our previous report, which details the engine range and drivetrain changes.
