Audi A1 Expected to Bring New Customers to the Brand

Audi will bring its new entry level model, the A1 subcompact, to the European market in August and the company has high expectations from the car. Among other things, Audi expects the A1 to bring new customers to the brand - the company said 80 percent of the A1’s target is expected to be new to the marque, as Bloomberg reports.

The information is based on studies perfected by the German premium car maker. The respondents were potential clients for the European market. According to Peter Schwarzenbauer, Head of Audi Sales, the company has not planed an U.S. or China market debut date for the new product.

Schwarzenbauer told the aforementioned source that the favorite markets for the upcoming model will be Germany, France, the U.K. and Italy. He added that the A1 isn’t scheduled to be introduced on the U.S. market, as the company is analyzing the potential to bring the car’s next version stateside.

"We're aware of the move toward smaller segments," Schwarzenbauer was quoted as saying by Bloomberg. "for that reason, we could imagine the A1 becoming a success in the U.S. too."

Here at autoevolution, we’re overwhelmed with anticipation for the A1’s hot version, the S1, which is expected to be born in 2012. The mad mini is expected to use VW Group’s 1.4 liter TSI engine (the unit features both a supercharger and a turbocharger), which should deliver a power figure of approximately 180 HP.
