Ever wondered why car journos usually steer clear of reviewing racecars? Sure, there are more important reasons, but one of the things that stand in the way of such an adventure has to do with the sheer aural violence of such machines.
Nevertheless, when you're invited to get behind the carbon wheel of the Aston Martin Vulcan, a dB riot is the last thing you're worried about. And such an audio storm is exactly what makes up the soundtrack of autocar's Vulcan drive, which you can find at the bottom of the page.

The action takes place on the Silverstone track, with the infamous British weather not failing to turn everything into a damp challenge. And when you're talking about north of 800 hp being put to the track via the rear wheels, you'll want to pay attention to every bit of water on the asphalt. Speaking of which, Gaydon's track-confined hypercar wore Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 rubber.

In the driving aids department, the Vulcan stays true to its racecar destination, so we can't talk about stability control. The octane beast does pack traction control, as well as multiple settings for the ABS, as well as for the output of its seven-liter V12.

You can look at the Vulcan in many ways. There are plenty of enthusiasts out there who see this as a British middle finger to the marketing-infused gas-electric shenanigans in the LaFerrari, P1 and 918 Spyder.

Other see the downright demonic Aston as the automaker's way of saying goodbye to its legendary naturally aspirated V8, with the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 having now replaced the atmospheric 6.0-liter V12 we had become so accustomed to (we can't forget its 90s Ford V6 roots, though). So, how does the 7-liter insanity we have here play this role? Hit the "play" button and you'll understand.
