Aston Martin is preparing a track-oriented version of the V8 Vantage, and their engineers are testing it on the Nurburgring.
The new model will be called the Aston Martin Vantage GT8, and it will be a contender of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. In other words, this version will be the most hardcore street version of the Aston Martin Vantage.

The British carmaker will reportedly limit production to 150 cars, and only 40 of those will be sold in the United Kingdom. When compared to the GT12, the production number was increased by 50 units, so there is a larger market for this kind of car.

The new Vantage GT8 is expected to be the lightest model of the Vantage series, and its body kit resembles the one of the Vantage GT12. This means a fixed rear wing and an extended front spoiler. However, the rear diffuser has a simplified design when compared to the Vantage GT12.

Aston Martin is tapping a select group of customers with this car, and the potential buyers have already been invited to its launch event.

Naturally, money is not an issue for these people, and they seek the most race-focused V8 road-going Aston Martin that money can buy. Some reports claim that Aston Martin has already shown the production car to those customers, but this piece of info has not been confirmed.

To enable engineers to make this GT8 the lightest Vantage ever, the carmaker has used titanium, aluminum, and the ever-present carbon fiber to ensure the lowest weight possible for their latest creation.

As far as power is concerned, the car is expected to feature a 4.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 unit, which could provide around 430 HP and a gorgeous sound. Regarding gearboxes, this car could come with either a six-speed or even a seven-speed manual gearbox, both alongside the current sequential manual transmission.

Insiders claim Aston Martin will publicly unveil the Vantage GT8 this month, so stay tuned to find out more about the latest 911 GT3 RS competitor.
