Aston Martin is introducing a refreshed Vantage GT4 for 2011, with the vehicle borrowing design elements from the carmaker’s V12 Vantage road car, offering a higher level of downforce. In addition to that, the racer comes with a remapped 4.7 liter engine that offers a higher output.
We’ll remind you that the GT4 is a close relative of the V8 Vantage road car, using elements such as an aluminum chassis. The racers that will use the new vehicle will benefit, for the first time, from a race-developed Bosch ABS and traction control system. This has been optimized specifically for the GT4 to offer optimum performance in both dry and wet driving conditions.
The 2011 racer comes with a new splitter that increases downforce on the front axle and channels cooling air to the radiator and brakes. At the rear of the car we can find the V12’s generously-sized boot “flip”, as well as a new carbon fiber diffuser and rear underfloor. These elements create an area of low pressure under the rear of the car, increasing downforce and channeling more air through a new rear-installed transmission oil cooler.
“Aston Martin Racing has built and sold more than 80 Vantage GT4s to customers around the world in the last two years and it has become the most successful car in its class. In 2010, it won the European GT4 Cup as well as the GT4 class at the Dubai 24 Hours, the Nurburgring 24 Hours and the Spa 24 hours. The car also has its own one-make series, the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge of Great Britain, which was won in its inaugural year by Chris and Ant Scragg,” stated the press release.
