British automaker Aston Martin has announced a recall that affects 689 2012-2013 model year vehicles over faulty throttle arms caused by a manufacturing error.
“If the throttle pedal arm breaks, the engine will return to idle and the driver will be unable to maintain or increase engine speed, increasing the risk of a crash,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced.

The 689 Aston Martin DB9, Rapide, Virage, V8 Vantage and V12 Vantage models were built from May 2012 through April 2013. The manufacturer says it will notify owners and dealers will replace the throttle pedal assemblies.

Aston Martin has not yet provided a notification schedule, but owners may contact the company’s customer service by calling 1-888-923-9988. The ecall number is RA-03-0016.
