Aston Martin One-77 Wins Top Design Award

As we mentioned several times over the past few weeks, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este opened its doors this weekend for two days of exquisite design, performance and unique cars. Amidst the wide range of both vintage and present day concept cars, the Aston Martin One-77 was one of the most looked forward to presence.

The million pounds-plus car from the British manufacturer won the Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes at the aforementioned contest. It was the car's very first appearance (in its complete form) and this is its very first award. Not a bad start...

Embodying everything Aston Martin stands for, the One-77 has proven itself as the most desirable automotive art form at its premiere today. “We have achieved a new level of design and craftsmanship which has been clearly recognized by the public here in the homeland of design at Villa d’Este,” the company's CEO said at the event.

Outclassing its eight rivals by more than 30 percent of the public's votes, the Aston Martin One-77 has presented the audience all of its strongpoints, including the fully handcrafted interior, never seen before the Concorso presentation.

To win this award at its first showing is a testament to the Aston Martin team and the original concept. Winning here today has proven One-77 as a benchmark in automotive design,” Aston Martin Design Director, Marek Reichman added.

Technically speaking, the One-77 is expected to be a monster of a car, boasting a 7.3l naturally-aspirated V12 powerplant, able of developing some 700 horsepower. With a top speed of over 200 mph (321.8 km/h) and a naught to sixty acceleration time of only 3.5 seconds, the One-77's performances might give you the urge to empty the family's accounts.
