Aston Martin One-77 Delivered to Monte Carlo

For a beauty of a car like Aston Martin's very limited and exclusive One-77, the lack of continuous information almost causes physical pain. The model, presented back in the first months of 2009, has shook the world of sheiks and tycoons for almost two years now, but none actually reached a customer.

Until now, that is, when GTspirit reports that the first production version of the car was delivered to a customer in Monte Carlo. A slow, shy start, for the $1.5 million car, but a start none the less; and taking into account that all but 17 out of the total 77 units to be built have been already paid for, more such models are likely to surface on streets around the world soon.

If you can't remember why somebody would pay $1.5 million for a car, here's a quick sum-up: the model is powered by a 7.3l, naturally-aspirated V12 powerplant, delivering up to 700 horsepower.

The performance figures are right up the supercar segment's alley, with a naught to sixty acceleration time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph (321.8 km/h). Add to that the stunning looks, and you might understand why somebody would pay a fortune for it.

"The craftsmanship and design that has gone into the creation of the Aston Martin One-77 lifts automotive engineering into the realm of art. With its finely sculpted forms and sleek lines, it is an expression of unparalleled beauty that embodies everything Aston Martin stands for," Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin CEO, made his point when the car was introduced in April 2009.
