Aston Martin Lagonda Shooting Brake Rendered: One of Many

Shooting brake cars have lost traction in the last year, but with the imminent launch of the estate-ified CLA-Class soon, things are going to change. One car we'd like to see fitted with a large boot is the all-new Lagonda super-luxury sedan from Aston Martin.

The Lagonda is a car designed exclusively for the wealthiest of Middle Eastern buyers and boasts a bespoke look that's been added on top of a stretched Rapid body. And yet if legroom is a concern, why can't the size of the boot be as well?

The Aston Martin history book is peppered with shooting brake models, really famous ones at that. There's the DB5, the 90s Virage and of course the Roos Engineering conversion of the great William Towns original Lagonda launched in 1976.

Coachbuilder Zagato has just unveiled the Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake to complete the centennial trilogy of unique cars. It's not a bad-looking thing, but for the ultimate in practicality, you need to dream big, really big.

This rendering was created by our friend Remco Meulendijk, who says that "immediately when I saw the new Aston Martin Lagonda I needed to make this wagon version of it."

We kind of know what he means, since his version actually looks cleaner than the official one. At well over 5 meters in length, this would be one of the largest estates ever, bigger even than something like a Ford Transit van. Big is beautiful, baby!

Only thing is that the Middle East isn't known for loving estates, so as interesting as this is, we don't expect a production variant from Aston.
