Lagonda's release is set to the 102nd celebration of the name it wears. The word of a new edition of the century old brand has been around since late last summer.
"Lagonda will have its own niche with luxurious and truly versatile products suitable for both existing and emerging markets," Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin CEO was quoted as saying last September. The car is set to make its first trip on the road sometimes in 2012.
Word on the street is that it will be some type of 4x4 or a sedan. It is supposed to be a car to be bought and used by wealthy people who don't like to drive their DB coupe models through the winter snow and cold.
"Lagonda models would be vehicles that could be used all year round in markets such as Russia where specialized sports cars such as Aston Martins could only be used for three or four months each year", said Aston Martin spokeswoman Janette Green as reported by Autonews.
If the car is truly meant to be a wintertime 4x4, this could mean the beginning of a new era in automotive design. After this, maybe we could whiteness the birth of night time cars, that glow in the dark, cars to be used for going to work, vehicles for Sunday church, cars to match the woman in the right seat and so on...
