Aston Martin DB9 Is UK's Most Desired Car

The Aston Martin DB9 managed to push aside its rivals and became UK’s favorite supercar, according to a survey run by Manheim Auctions.

The British automaker had some fierce competition from Italy and Germany, but somehow the DB9 managed to pull ahead of its rivals. The Aston Martin gained 21% of the votes, while second and third place occupants, Audi R8 and Bugatti Veyron, only scored 15% and 14% of the votes, respectively.

It’s very odd that Italian superstars like Ferrari and Lamborghini only managed to place their cars on fourth spot, for the Gallardo, and eighth for the Testarossa, while Mercedes Benz’s SLS AMG and Porsche’s 911 GT3 RS scored fifth and sixth place.

On the other hand, American automaker Ford earned seventh place with the 1960-1969 Mustang and tenth place with the GT model, while its US competitor, the Dodge Viper, earned ninth position in the rankings.

Aston Martin’s sublime elegance and marvelous styling accompanied by carefully matched proportions and attention to detail secured first place for the British automaker. The design of the DB9, as like all Aston models, is very discreet and simple rendering elegance, as well as refinement.

In addition to design, the DB9 is equipped with 48-valve, 5935 cc V12 engine providing 470 bhp (350 kW) and a torque level of 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) at 5000 rpm. All this power secures acceleration from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.8 seconds, while top speed is 306 km/h (190 mph).

"The Aston Martin DB9 has to be one of the most well-known, best-loved supercars ever made. Synonymous with speed, style and glamor and already slipping into the 'iconic' status, it's little wonder it's been voted favorite in our supercar poll," explained Craig Mailey, Marketing Director, Manheim Auctions.
