Aston Martin Confirms DB11 Will Enter Production, Skipping DB10 Nameplate

The current Aston Martin range still has the DB9 nameplate used on the boot of their most popular products. However, that has been the case for a bit too long if you were to ask any petrolhead, and the Brits certainly seem to have suddenly become aware of this.
The first DB9 was launched back in 2004 and since then it received only slight improvements, done on a body that was so ahead of its time 11 years ago that it’s still a head turner to this day.

Going from 450 HP to 517 over the years, the 6-liter V12 unit used in the DB9 is probably going to be retired in a few years, as soon as the new DB11 comes out.

That’s right, Aston Martin just announced that their future model will be wearing the DB11 nameplate, skipping the DB10 that will forever remain a concept car used in a James Bond movie. It seems like we’re not the only ones that pay extra attention to the film business.

As you probably know, the DB10 badges were used on ten cars that were all destined to be used on the set of the upcoming 007 movie, Spectre. They look absolutely stunning and we’re hoping that since the DB11 wears a bigger numeral, it will turn out even better.

“Not only is it a sign of our intention to continue the long line of iconic sports cars that bear the ‘DB’ moniker – the very bloodline of our brand – but it also shows the world our ambitious plan in action. The coming years will see Aston Martin transform not only its entire range of models but also its scale and global presence, and the new DB11 will be central to that success,” said Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin in Frankfurt.

That sounds brilliant to us and, if the rumors that the future model will be wearing an AMG-developed powerplant come true, the DB11 has everything it needs to become an highly-desirable car, just like its predecessor was when it came out over a decade ago.
