Ah, rumors! What would the automotive world be without them? A very boring place, that's for sure. Especially after Andy Palmer's latest intentions of building an electric Aston Martin Rapide.
Wait, what? Will Aston Martin go into EVs? According to the Wall Street Journal, this could happen in the near future. Especially since Andy Palmer said the company he's currently running launched a research project for the electric car.

Moreover, the brand is looking for partners specialized in the EV technology field, but the Aston Martin CEO was shush-shush regarding the names involved in negotiations.

“We are looking at technologies around the world, including some pretty cool technologies coming from Silicon Valley. Tesla Motors Inc., based in Palo Alto, California, isn’t one of them," he said.

But is Aston Martin trying to compete with Tesla? We don't think so since, realistically speaking, they wouldn't stand a chance given Tesla's achievements up until now. Moreover, this would most likely be a one-off endeavor in delivering an electric sports car, as the brand will not give up its V8 and V12 engines only to embrace green technologies.

However, the British carmaker could be forced to take measures for lowering emissions throughout its range as standards are constantly tightened around the world.

Providing Aston Martin manages to secure the necessary know-how in order to design and build an EV, they would fit the current scene. Creations such as the Porsche 918 Spyder and Bentley's idea of a plug-in hybrid SUV are already out of the bag, so why wouldn't Aston Martin jump the bandwagon?

Plus, they already took a few steps forward by presenting the all-electric DBX CUV concept in Geneva. I mean, what could go wrong?
