The paint didn't even dried on the 458 Italia (or should we say, the car hasn't even been painted yet!) and Satoshi Kondo, CEO of Japanese tuner ASI announced his engineers are already working on a bodykit to be offered for the new 458 Italia. And they have the photo to prove it.
Now, we are all about tuning and stuff and we must admit, ASI are pretty good at what they do. Still, wouldn't have been nice for us to be able to enjoy the Italia as envisioned by Ferrari for a while longer? Especially because we reckon tweaking a Ferrari, in any way, is a bit like drawing a mustache on Mona Lisa's face...
Anyway, the kit itself looks quite appealing, even if it kinda rips the soul out of the Prancing Horse. As you can see, ASI designed huge air intakes for the front-end of the car, as well as the obsession-of-all-tuners rear spoiler for the back. As with any tuned model, the ASI version will have an overall lowered stance, thanks to the use of the side skirts.
As you can see, there are two versions of the body kit, with one extending the front add-on up onto the front wing. The kit will likely come complete with the other tuner-obsession, black coated alloy wheels.
After you take a good long look at the kit offered by ASI, follow this link and watch the real 458 Italia, in the flesh at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. Give it a long, hard look and after you are convinced Ferrari gave the Italia all its best, ask yourself: why spoil it?
