Wait, you didn't seriously think that the Le Mans 24 Hour Race is all about race liveries, bruised body kits and gruelling racing, did you? In fact, it doesn't even matter because Aston Martin is into art cars now.
Long story short, Aston Martin thought an art car is a good way of pleasing the motorsport gods during this year's Le Mans 24 Hours, so here we are, telling you stuff about the Rehberger Vantage GTE.

Before presuming a German company bought Aston Martin, let us say that Rehberger comes from the name of the artist commissioned to transform the Vantage into a moving art item: Tobias Rehberger.

Alright, but what's the idea with this art form? Well, we asked the same question and according to Aston Martin, this awkward-looking creation gives the Gulf #97 Vantage GTE the illusion of movement and speed, even when the car is not moving. If they say so...

In case you're interested in what the artist had to say about the car, here's something to satisfy your curiosity: "my design for the Aston Martin art car is rooted in my interest in distorted perception and related phenomena like auto moving patterns, optical effects, camouflage and visual confusion, which I have addressed in many works before".

We don't know if this work of art will steal our eyes from the action that will be unleashed once the 24 hours race will officially get underway, but since this is Le Mans we're talking, and motorsport madness has no limits, it's satisfying to have weird things around. You know, for diversity.
