The Mercedes CLA 45 AMG isn’t the kind of car that requires an exhaust upgrade, especially when the optional Performance Exhaust is selected. Nonetheless, this didn’t stop the audiophiles over at Armytrix from developing a complete, active exhaust for the baby Benz.
First of all, you’ll be able to play with the voice of the M159 engine thanks to the Valvetronic muffler included in the system. Basically, the driver has three modes: Race (valves always open), Street (always closed) and Auto. The last one sees that the valves are closed below 3,000 rpm. By the way, this is something you really want, as the backpressure is thus maintained and you won’t lose any power during those essential take-offs.
The the soundtrack in the adjacent video hints that the system can make the same difference compared to the AMG Performance Exhaust as the one the latter brings when pitted against the standard system.
Like we said, this is a complete kit, which means that it includes high-flow down pipe, front pipe, mid pipe, link pipe, Valvetronic muffler, as well as the wireless remote control kits. You can also upgrade with a 200 Cell sport cat pipe, an option particularity suited to those who are also after a power gain.
The stock exhaust tips appear to have been kept, so this can be your little secret. At least until you turn to the system’s party trick, which appears to be the machine gun-like sounds made during the gear shifts.
