If solid engineering is what you seek, Porsche is the brand for you. We could write pages and pages about this, but none of that helps when you’re in a Cayman and happen to meet an armored vehicle by accident.
Yes, we know, this sounds like a bit of a bad joke. Unfortunately, it isn’t. Such a military machine was actually involved in a crash with a Porsche on Sunday, May 30.
The unfortunate event took place inside the Chongqing Jiahua tunnel in China, but the circumstances that led to the bizarre crash remain unknown.
As for the contraption that scrapped the Racing Yellow of the side of the Cayman, we are talking about a Chinese-built Type 05 self-propelled mortar system, one that packs a 120-mm gun. As for its secondary armament, we are talking about a 12.7-mm machine gun
Aside from the eye-catching differences between the two, what the Porsche makes up for in speed, it loses in weight. The military vehicles ties the scales at a hefty 16.5 tons. This means it weighs about as much as a dozen Caymans.
While the Cayman can only accommodate a pair of people, the Type 05 will only accept a crew of four, including the commander, gunner, loader and the now-targeted driver. Interestingly enough, both cars pack about the same HP number (if the Cayman is an S).
As we said, the details are missing, but with this crash involving a Chinese army vehicle, we`re pretty sure nobody was allowed to make a big fuss about the crash. Nevertheless, you can see people that have stepped out of their cars and are taking pictures of the accident.
