Ariel Rider has the finest treats for people looking to buy a sweet-looking pedelec with retro attire and a ton of fun factor to it. The maker offers a neat choice in the premium section of its N Class, and if you're willing to fork out some three grand on an electric bicycle, you're in the right place.
N-Class Premium machines can be ordered with either 250W or 500W rear hub motors, depending on how fast you want to go, or how much range you need. The 250W model is limited to a top speed of 25 km/h (15.5 mph) and this makes riding this bike without a helmet legal, while sparing the owner of other legal restrictions.

Going for the 500W model takes the top speed to 45 km/h (28 mph) and riders should better check with the requirements of the law in their area. The smaller N250 comes with a 36V battery, whereas the N500 is loaded with a 48V pack, both units being equipped with 11Ah Samsung cells.

Electric assistance is provided on demand, through the smart POD (power on demand) feature. A microcomputer senses how much pressure is applied to the pedals, and after factoring in terrain conditions, it offers the needed assistance.

Retro looks with a higher center of gravity

We totally dig the looks of the Ariel Rider N-Class Premium pedelecs, as it mimics quite well the vibe of the pre-WWII machines. This includes the retro tires, sprung luxury leather seat and the matching leather grips, the ample handlebars and the springer fork.

What introduces a bit of a question as to how well this bike is balanced is the choice of having the battery pack mounted so high in the hydroformed aluminum frame. While not being a major issue, this choice is not the optimal one from an engineering standpoint, but at least, it does look natural.

Both versions come with Shimano Altus 7-speed transmission and Avid BB7 disc brakes, for prices ranging between $2,299 and $3,099 (€2,120-€2,860).
