The global health crisis has forced a wide range of automotive events to skip the 2020 edition, postpone for 2021 or simply disappear altogether. But there is still hope for the eager automotive fans that love to see their favorite cars in the metal – smaller venues are already daring to break the negative circle.
The past weekend brought for Mecum Auctions the most successful Indy event with sales totaling more than $74 million – headlined, of course, by the 1965 Shelby GT350R Prototype that is now the most expensive Mustang in the world. Smaller, more flexible automotive events might be key to a revival of the physical motor show pilgrimage.

Basically, at this moment in time it is either this or the death of the automotive show as we know it. We commend alternative ideas such as the recently announced Goodwood Speedweek, but we bet car aficionados will always be attracted by the on-site experience if given the chance.

Ares Design probably thinks the same because the company just announced its decision to attend both U.K.’s Salon Privé and the Porto Cervo Summer Show in Sardinia. The latter is already on its way and is scheduled to last until September 6th.

The prestigious Salon Privé will take place September 23rd through 26th and will include four of the handmade projects of co-founder Dany Bahar’s projects, such as the Bentley Mulsanne Coupé and two bespoke motorcycles from BMW – the Café Racer and Scrambler. Of course, the main attraction will remain the Ares Panther ProgettoUno.

A modern reinterpretation of the famed DeTomaso Pantera, this Lamborghini Huracan is a supercar sheep redressed in fashionable Italian wolf’s carbon fiber clothes. The 650 horsepower-mill breathes fast enough to blow past the 60-mph mark in just 3.1 seconds and the 325 kph (202 mph) top speed is not disappointing anybody either.

We certainly hope Ares is not going to stop with just one model part of the Legends Reborn program even if the economic hardships forced the Modena studio to reduce the model’s production quota from 70 to just 21 examples.
