Italian studio Ares Design has greatly expanded its scope in recent months – which is always welcome news, considering how deeply troubled this year has been. They are most famous for the Panther ProgettoUno, but their reinterpretations go back and forth in time like a bullet train.
We have seen the Modena-based company present a very modern S1 Spyder project that turned the C8 Chevrolet Corvette into a stunning 705-hp custom monster. We have also checked out with great interest their progress in reimagining the Porsche 964 Targa.

Now it’s time to delve even further into the automotive past with their stunning interpretation of a 1950s roadster. We first caught wind of the new Ares Design Wami Lalique Spyder earlier this summer, when the company teased a sylph silhouette. Now we can check out the real deal, albeit only virtually.

These are the times we live in. Anyway, it’s not like Ares was going to produce the car without at least a few firm orders, right? This take on vintage models from the 1950s comes courtesy of Ares – but they’re not alone in the endeavor, because they will also get a little help from French luxury crystal maker Lalique.

Part of the “Legends Reborn” program, the Wami Spyder easily blends vintage styling with modern production techniques and materials. That's because the company promises to deliver the roadster in a blend of handcrafted aluminum and carbon fiber.

Meanwhile, the interior receives “bespoke French crystal design” touches along with “handcrafted Italian upholstery... complemented by the finest English oak dashboard.” Order books have been opened, but pricing details remain a mystery unless you enquire personally.

We do know there’s going to be a very limited production run of just 12 initial units, but on the other hand, we have no idea what lurks underneath the long hood. Hopefully it’s something very potent, judging by the open-gate manual transmission seen inside and the quad exhaust tips residing outside.
