Arctic Cat informs its customers that a recall campaign was initiated and certain models of their 2014 and 2015 MY snowmobiles are not safe for riding. The problem affects the fuel supply and may result in fires, so Arctic Cat advises the customers of these sleds to stop using them until the problem is fixed.
The issue affects the fuel line assembly, which, in certain conditions, might allow fuel to leak, increasing the risk of fire, crash and injury. The manufacturer says that no reports of fires, accidents or injuries have been filed, and that customers will be notified, with a repair in authorized Arctic Cat dealerships being scheduled to solve the problem.
About 3,260 units fall under the riding ban of this recall, with these snowmobiles being 2014 Arctic Cat XF 7000 and ZR 7000 and model year 2015 XF 7000 and ZR 7000, their rank including all 2014 MY XF and ZR machines. Customers who bought 2015 model year snowmobiles can easily check their VIN (vehicle identification number) stickers, which they can find attached to the chassis, near the rider’s right footrest.
2015 machines affected by this problem have the last 6 digits of their VIN’s in the following ranges: 100920 through 100993 for the XF 7000 models and 100792 through 100919 for the ZR 7000. Arctic Cat also adds that the fourth and fifth digit of the VIN code represent the year of manufactur1, 14 for 2014 and 15 for 2015, respectively.
These snowmobiles have their model printed on the front side, and have been sold by Arctic Cat dealers from June 2013 to August 2014, in a variety of green, black, orange and white color schemes. Arctic Cat can be reached directly at (800) 279-6851 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, official sources report, mentioning that reselling or attempting to resell the recalled products is illegal.
In mid-January 2014, a similar recall affected Arctic Cat Sno Pro machines.
