Arctic Cat Preview on the Wildcat 1000 X, Series Gets Updates

Scheduled for 2013, the Wildcat 1000 X is a revamped, more powerful version of the base 1000 model, and it seems like the new technologies used will finally create a really brutal and fun to drive off-road machine.

The “X” comes with two major improvements as far as power and power deployment are concerned. First of all, the power rating has been upped from 78 hp to 90 and this means almost 15% extra nerve, which is of course, great.

In order to make the Wildcat 1000 X really feel more powerful when driven hard on rough ground, Arctic Cat came up with a new clutch system they call the Rapid Response Clutch, created in partnership with Team Industries. The new technology is said to deploy the 951cc V-twin's power better, with a firmer feeling and lag-free. Even more, the Rapid Response Clutch will spread across the Wildcat family as a standard.

The Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000 X now rolls with dual-range Fix Podium shocks with 23-way adjustability and 27” Maxxis Bighorn tires, and to make an ever bolder difference from the base model, the new beast also comes with aluminium bumpers in both front and rear, and color-matched seats.

Since the 1000 and 1000 Limited have already been released, don't raise an eyebrow to see the updated ones touted as 2013.5 models. The 1000 X reaches dealerships in March, price starts at $18,499 (€13,920).
