Founded in 1999 as Farboud Limited and renamed to Arash Motor Company Ltd. in 2006, the British company has prepared a thought-provoking hypercar for the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. It's known as the Arash AF10 and it’s motivated by 2,080 horsepower.
The internal combustion is handled by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine with 2 valves per cylinder that develops 900 horsepower. It started life as a fifth-generation GM small-block engine similar to the one used on the C7 Corvette and the sixth-generation Camaro. Another 1,180 horsepower come courtesy of four electric motors. In total, the Arash AF10 Hybrid has five transmissions: four 2-speed units for the electric motors and another one for the small-block V8 engine.

Interestingly enough, customers can choose between manual or automatic for the motivator that drinks high-octane gasoline. As for the power source of the electric motors, that comes in the guise of a 32 kWh lithium-ion battery that is charged directly by the V8 or under braking by the kinetic energy recovery system. As expected from such a high-performance machine, the chassis is a lightweight and rigid carbon fiber tub with aluminum subframes front and rear.

Double wishbone suspension and adjustable dampers are on the menu as well, joined by Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires measuring 19 inches front and 20 inches at the rear. Though the top speed of this thing hasn’t been announced at the time of writing this story, Arash claims that 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) is doable in 2.8 seconds. The thing is, the Nissan GT-R Nismo accelerates just as quickly as the £1,100,000 Arash AF10 Hybrid hypercar, but for less hard cash.

The Arash AF10 Hybrid’s price translates to $1.55 million at current exchange rates, which is more than the $845,000 Porsche 918 Spyder. Incidentally, the 918 with the Weissach Package does 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds. With a Bugatti Chiron looming on the horizon, the Arash AF10 doesn’t have what it takes to establish itself as a worthy challenger. More technical details on the Arash AF10 Hybrid are available in the press release below.
