Arai Released Aoyama Replica Corsair-V

The Aoyama Replica is the new 2009 Corsair-V model, announced by Arai as an addition to the 2009 street-helmet line. The helmet has the same design as the one used by the 250cc GP front-runner Hiroshi Aoyama.

“The job of a motorcycle helmet has not changed. If a design does not help make it better at doing its job, at protecting the rider and giving a better fit and comfort for longer riding, then we do not do it. Arai is in the helmet business, not the fashion business,” Mr. Michio Arai said at the launching of the Corsair-V range.

The Aoyama Replica bright red/black/grey graphics is designed "to match nothing, but go with everything." Replacing the much-lauded RX-7 Corsair, Arai says the Corsair-V model has so many innovations, patents and advancements over its predecessor that "they're really not close in anything but the ‘Corsair' name," as Brian Weston, Arai Americas' Director of Operations, said in a press release.

The Corsair-V comes with 11 new features, which cover every part of the helmet, from shell to interior to ventilation. The other models besides the Aoyama Replica are replicas of Dani Pedrosa, Nakano Sakura, Okada-Ryu and Nicky Hayden. This year, Hiroshi Aoyama rides for the 250cc Scot Racing Team.

"We know it's not a helmet for everybody, especially not in this economy," Weston concluded. "Come to think of it, no Arai is. Yet, after three generations of making helmets in a very special way, we know there are riders who can tell the difference. And yes, we know they're expensive. That's because it costs a lot to build each one."

The new Arai Aoyama Corsair-V is available in sizes XS-XXL at a suggested retail price of $899.95. This year, Arai has ranked the highest score in customer satisfaction for the 11th time in a row.
