Arab Drifting Featured in M.I.A's "Bad Girls" Video

We were wondering when someone would try to make commercial use of Arab drifting and now the answer has arrived. British artist M.I.A. (Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam) decided to rely on this practice, called hagwalah, for the video of her hip-hop single “Bad Girls”.
The clip, which comes with a BMW bias, brings the dangerous stunts we’ve been accustomed with, such as two-wheels driving, stepping out of the car at high speed as well as high speed drifting, even though the producers didn’t want to come too close to the intensity shown in the real Arab drifting videos.

While we can’t help think that the clip is a bit silly, if we go past the “bling” we see an important message, as the video offers women an position that’s prohibited in the Arab world, placing female drivers in speeding cars.
